Bank Checking Account and Routing Numbers

How to find your bank routing and account numbers

ACH Accounts
To use a bank account to replenish your E-ZPass® account, the bank account must be an "ACH-enabled" checking or savings account. This means that the account can be electronically debited. If you don't know for sure, contact your bank to confirm that you have an ACH-enabled account.

Routing Number
The routing number identifies your bank. You can find the routing number at the bottom of one of your checks. Be sure to use a check, not a deposit slip, to get the correct routing number for ACH.

The routing number is always 9 digits long and surrounded by the special character routing number character. Usually the routing number is the first number listed at the bottom of the check.

Account Number
The bank account number may be up to 17 digits long. It is directly to the left of the special character routing number character. If you notice extra zeroes before or after your account number, please include them as part of the account number.

Check Number
There is also a check number at the bottom of the check, usually 4 digits long. It should match the number in the upper-right corner of the check. You do not need to use the check number for anything. It is not part of the account number or the routing number.
