There are two main reasons why an E-ZPass customer receives a Tolls by Mail Toll Bill instead of the toll transaction posting to an E-ZPass account.
A valid E-ZPass Tag was not detected in the vehicle.
Common reasons why this occurs is the Tag was placed on the vehicle dashboard, was held by the customer, or the customer forgot the Tag.
The license plate number that received the Toll Bill was not listed on the E-ZPass account at the time of the toll transaction.
It is important that all vehicles that you plan on using your E-ZPass Tag with are listed on your E-ZPass account.

Plates That Start With Vertical Letters
Custom license plates sometimes have letters arranged vertically in front of the number. These vertical letters are part of the license plate number. If you have a plate with letters in front, enter the vertical part of the plate number first, then the rest of the number.

Plates That End With Vertical Letters
Sometimes the vertical part is after the number. In this case, enter the number first, then the letters top to bottom. Just remember: left to right, top to bottom.
